Chelsea star remains coy when asked about future, claims that Barcelona duo is ‘good friends’ of his

Willian

Willian has refused to be drawn into discussions about his future being away from Chelsea and is only interested in the World Cup with Brazil.

The Chelsea winger has been linked with a move to Barcelona and was asked about playing with Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho. The 29-year-old was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying,

“Well, they are excellent players with a lot of quality. In addition to great players, they are very good friends.”

The 29-year-old further added that he is only focussed on playing for Brazil.

“People speculate a lot. We see a lot of things on the internet, but this is not the time to talk about this. I’ve not received any information about that. I’m trying to focus on my performance, playing for Brazil.”

Willian does seem like a player who we will lose in the summer as Barcelona had a £50million bid rejected last week. The 29-year-old has been a model of consistency in recent years and losing him would be a major blow to our side and also for the new manager who could come into the club.

Willian has had a pretty good World Cup so far and is expected to start against Thibaut Courtois’ Belgium in the quarterfinals. If he puts in another great performance for the Samba boys, we would see a lot more news of him being linked with Barcelona.

The best result from this scenario would be to milk Barcelona and if the Catalan club really want the Brazilian, they should be prepared to break the bank given that he is one of the best players we have in our side.
