Transfer blow for Chelsea as target is close to agreeing deal with current his club

Chelsea target Matias Vecino might be staying at his club Inter Milan next season, according to Tutto Mercato Web (h/t The Express).

The Uruguayan midfielder helped the Serie A club reach the Champions League spots in the league and is also part of the national team taking part in the World Cup.

The report claims that Alessandro Lucci, the player’s agent, had visited Milan last week. The agent was in Milan to discuss a new deal for his client and that comes as a big blow to Chelsea.

Another player was also supposed to be a part of the deal, as the report suggests Davide Zappacosta was to go in the other direction with Vecino coming in.

The 28-year-old Vecino played 29 Serie A games for the Italian giants last season and scored 3 goals while providing assists for 2 more.

The Uruguayan mostly plays a deeper midfield role and could have been a handy player for us next season. There is no doubting the fact that we need to freshen up the squad.

Time is running out for us to finalise transfer deals and it will be tough for us to crack deals for players until we clear up the situation regarding who our manager will be next season.
