According to a report by The Sun, Chelsea are willing to shell out a fee in the region of £4.4million to buy out Maurizio Sarri from his contract with Napoli. There has been a lot of speculation about Antonio Conte’s future and Sarri’s possible appointment but now, it looks like a deal is on the horizon.
Despite leading Chelsea to a brilliant Premier League title win in his debut campaign, Conte fell horribly short last season as we finished outside the Champions League qualification spots. We did win the FA Cup by beating Manchester United but our inability to secure a top-four finish has created a sombre mood in the Chelsea camp.
Our owner Roman Abramovich is known to be quite ruthless when it comes to sacking managers and it looks like Conte could be on his way out this summer.
Sarri enjoyed a brilliant season with the Naples-based outfit as they narrowly missed out ending Juventus’ dominance in the league. They failed to retain their momentum until the end of the season and ultimately, Juve picked up the Serie A title.
But the manager’s efforts have been lauded by fans and critics alike and it is truly exciting to think of everything he could achieve with Chelsea.
After a lacklustre season, it goes without saying that the supporters would be crying out for improvement. And considering what he’s capable of, Sarri could be the man to lead us out of this mess.

For now, let’s just hope that the deal is officially confirmed soon. Our rivals are all strengthening their forces in the ongoing transfer window and it is high time for us to bring in new recruits.
