Harry Kane did it again for England as the Three Lions just about were deserving winners against Tunisia in their first World Cup match in Russia.
The captain peeled off from a corner in stoppage time to nod in a header for the winning goal after he had opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the game.
Tunisia, though, did pretty well and were awarded a penalty, which was converted. England did try to batter the African side and they were the better team, so the result was deserved. However, one player did catch the eye of a number of fans and that was Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The Chelsea youngster came on in the 80th minute for Dele Alli and had some nice touches to show.
Twitter was certainly pleased by the cameo from the youngster, who was on loan last season at Crystal Palace, and here are some of the best reactions to the 22-year-old’s cameo.
Mad to think Chelsea have spent 80 million on midfielders just last year while loaning out Ruben loftus cheek and yet he is comfortably better than all their midfield signings

A fantastic substitute performance from Ruben Loftus-Cheek for #ENG last night! Certainly earned a starting spot Panama on Sunday. #CFC pic.twitter.com/o0XkSOf9Z1

Also, I’d be very pleased if #nufc signed Loftus Cheek. That boy is a big unit.

That said, Ruben Loftus-Cheek was great when he came on. He’s developed into quite the fucking unit, and he puts himself about nicely. As impact subs go, he’s great. #ENG #WorldCup

Like a truck. There was something a bit skinny and featherweight about England, until he came on!

Loftus-Cheek trending. Shock. The man is a baller. Made a difference, drove England forward, won the deciding corner that lead to the winner. He’s one of our own. #CFC

Loftus-cheek changed that game, and won the corner from which Kane scored, due to developing at Palace, which makes Palace the rightful World Cup winners. I’m amazed no pundits mentioned this.
