Italian club proposes high-profile swap deal for out of favour Chelsea star – report

Gianluigi Donnarumma

AC Milan are interested in the services of Alvaro Morata and will try to land him by proposing a swap deal featuring goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports from Italy.

Reports claim that the Serie A side face issues with UEFA regarding Financial Fair Play and are unsure about their participation in the Europa League next season.

The Italian side pumped in more than £150million on new players last season and are waiting to hear from UEFA about an approval to spend money in the summer.

Corriere dello Sport (h/t The Express) claims that Milan are trying to workaround this financial issue by tempting Chelsea with a swap deal that could see Morata move to Milan, with Donnarumma going to London.

Morata did have a couple of good seasons in Italy with Juventus, and Chelsea might be looking to recoup a good chunk of the £70m they spent to bring the Spaniard from Real Madrid last season.

Alvaro Morata

The former Real man did struggle during the latter half of the season and Antonio Conte also brought in Olivier Giroud in the winter window to help the side out.

Morata scored just 11 Premier League goals from 31 appearances and this deal does not seem like the worst in the world.

We do have our problems with goalkeepers as the future of Thibaut Courtois is up in the air. The 19-year-old Donnarumma does have a bright future ahead of him.

Donnarumma also would be able to grow and develop into one of the best keepers in the world in possibly the best league too, so it might make sense for him to make a move and play in England.
