Chelsea handed huge boost in manager chase as French giants make decision on former Barcelona boss

According to Le Parisien, Chelsea have been granted a huge boost in Luis Enrique’s chase after Paris Saint-Germain admitted defeat in the race.

The Blues are expected to undergo a squad overhaul in the summer, as per the Daily Star and that includes manager Antonio Conte, who could be sacked after two seasons at the club.

The Italian won the Premier League title in his debut season in England with Chelsea. However, things haven’t been that smooth this time around as we are struggling hard to finish in the top-4.

The Daily Star claims that constant digs and taunts at the board over transfer policy have weakened Conte’s position at Chelsea. The results have not gone in the Italian’s favour, particularly since the start of 2018 and that has seen him attract a lot of criticism from all corners of the world.

Antonio Conte

Le Parisien reports Luis Enrique remains the frontrunner to replace Conte at Chelsea ahead of next season. PSG manager Unai Emery is also walking a tightrope after the Ligue 1 leaders crashed out of the Champions League to Real Madrid.

Enrique guided Barcelona to the famous treble in 2015 and after three taxing years at Camp Nou, the 47-year-old decided to take a year-long sabbatical in 2017. I assume Enrique would make himself available for a return to management in the summer; let’s hope Chelsea make a sensible decision after the end of this season.
