Chelsea Transfer News – Blues Give Green Light To Complete First January Deal

Chelsea have given a go-ahead to youngster Kenedy on a proposed loan move when the transfer window reopens next month. The Brazilian, who can operate as a left-back or as an attacker, has made just two appearances for the Blues this season – both in the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte seems to have washed his hands off Kenedy and has now sanctioned his loan departure in the winter transfer window. Kenedy, however, wants to make a name for himself at Stamford Bridge but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by.

According to Sabah newspaper (h/t talkSPORT), Turkish Super League side Fenerbahce have been tracking the Brazilian for some time and the Istanbul giants will push for a loan move in January. Kenedy still has another three years remaining on his current contract with the Blues and the club are reportedly not keen on losing him permanently.

The Brazil U-23 international was axed from Chelsea’s high-profile tour of China in July as the Premier League champions fought to avoid further embarrassment after the social media slurs sparked a furious response in the Asian nation.

Kenedy put two videos on Instagram, one with a caption which translated as “F**k you China” and another of a security guard asleep which was tagged: “Wake up China. You idiot.”

Chelsea had already issued an apology after admitting Kenedy’s actions had caused great offence and hurt the feelings of the people of China. Conte was forced to remove the player from their pre-season preparations as they looked to salvage the club’s reputation and maintain their high-profile position in the Asian market.

Despite Kenedy apologising for hurting the sentiments of the nation, the damage done was hard to ignore and the Brazilian reportedly came close to leaving our club in summer. Newcastle United were close to signing the Brazilian young gun on loan, after Rafael Benitez endured a complicated summer, having been frustrated in his attempts to bolster a squad that won The Championship last season. But the move never materialised and Kenedy has since stayed with us.

My opinion is that Conte should try giving a chance to him in the Premier League. As we have only one left-back, Marcos Alonso, there is a shortage of options on the left and Kenedy could become the solution to our problems. With the Christmas period about to start, a chance to Kenedy will also ensure Alonso gets rest as we need the Spaniard on a longer run.

However, a loan deal is certainly on the cards but Fenerbahce will have to act quickly, as other European clubs are expected to enter the fray before next month’s window.
