Predicted Chelsea Lineup vs Liverpool

So after playing a 2-2 draw against Swansea City last weekend, the Blues of London will now be preparing themselves for the bigger showdown of the Premier League. This times around, they will be welcoming the all confident side Liverpool at the Stamford Bridge to play the game number 5 of the Premier League.

The Blues finally dropped points in the Premier League as they were bettered by Swansea City last time out. Diego Costa gave his side a much-deserved lead, but the defence failed to hold on to it and gave away two cheap goals. As the game was nearing its end, Costa came to the rescue for the third time this season.

Furthermore, Liverpool will be visiting the Stamford Bridge with their heads held high as they have recently tasted a great result against the defending Champions, Leicester City. Besides that, they duly remember what happened the last time they visited the Stamford Bridge. Their star man Philippe Coutinho got their better of all the defenders and played a great role in Red’s 3-1 triumph over the Blues.

With that being said, Chelsea have a point to prove this season, so here is the predicted lineup for the Blues, that could give Liverpool a run for their money.

Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois-

The Belgian shot-stopper was at his fault for the first goal. He did try his best to deny Fer the second time, but the Dutchman got the better for him. Courtois has often been criticised for his rash decision-making at situations like these, but with no real options available, he will be Conte’s man for the game.

Defence: Ivanovic; Cahill; Luiz; Azpilicueta-

Now, many might argue over Ivanovic’s inclusion in the squad as Alonso is available for the game, but we personally believe that Conte just might avoid using him in the game like this, hence, the experienced Serbian is expected to start.

The centre back pairing will surely be shuffled as the skipper, John Terry, has suffered an injury. Cahill was a tough figure for the side in the last game, and he will be given the job of leadering the Chelsea defence against the Kop army.

Now, with Terry injured, the new signing from France, David Luiz, will mark his return in front of the Stamford Bridge audience.

The left back would surely be the Spaniard, Cesar Azpilicueta. He has always been a reliable presence for the team and will be looking to do the same, but this time around, his task will be tougher as he will be facing Sadio Mane on the flank.

Defensive midfielder: N’Golo Kante-

The former Leicester man will have to be on his toes this time. Kante has been pretty good this season, but this will be a stern test as he will have to break down the runs of Liverpool’s star-studded midfield. During the counterattacks, Liverpool possesses a serious threat and that is where Kante will have to assert his authority.

Attacking four: Willian; Oscar; Matic; Hazard-

Willian has been a rare sight on the pitch this season but that doesn’t mean his importance has been decreased. the Brazilian needs to pull his socks up this time, but will have to be cautious as he will most probably be facing James Milner on his flank.

The central pair of Oscar and Matic will be one of the most important figures against the Reds. We all are aware of the fact that both Henderson and Wijnaldum have been struggling to find a footing, hence, this is where the Brazil-Serbian duo could hurt the opposition. While Oscar will be providing a creative presence, the Serbian international will be looking to offer a physical approach.

The left side will surely be occupied by Eden Hazard. He may have been a subject of criticism in the entirety of last season, but he has really picked up his form and has answered his critics in style. He will look to trick Nathaniel Clyne with his zig-zag runs.

Striker: Diego Costa-

As mentioned earlier, the Brazilian-born Spanish attacker has rescued his team thrice this season and he is expected to spearhead the attack against a generous Liverpool defence . Just like Hazard, he has really picked up his form and already has four goals to his name. If you are playing FPL, pick him up.
