It has been a while since Chelsea have been linked with Napoli Star Kalidou Koulibaly and now the player has indicated towards a move to the Stamford Bridge this summer.

Koulibaly is on Chelsea manager Antonio Conte’s priority list, however the Blues are finding it tough to go ahead with negotiations with Napoli who want to keep their star striker in their squad into the next season.

While the player still has three more years in his contract with Napoli there has been no talks of contract renewal at the club and this can be a big advantage for the Blues as Napoli have more chances of losing the player this summer without a renewed contract on place.

Further to add to Chelsea’s advantages, the player in an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe stated that he himself will be talking to Chelsea representatives regarding his move to the Stamford Bridge if nothing happens at Chelsea.

Asked about his situation at Napoli, Koulibaly replied:

“I have a three year contract at Napoli. I was happy to sign a five-year contract with them, but I did very good things this season and there are proposals on the table.

“I’ll make a choice that is most favourable to me, not only financially but also on pitch. Big clubs want to sign me and there is no sign of a renewal with Napoli. The negotiation for a contract extension is stalled. They never wanted to discuss with us.”

Koulibaly was also asked if he had a chat with Antonio Conte, and the defender revealed he is going to talk to the Chelsea boss soon.

He added: “No, I have not talked to him but that may be soon. If nothing happens at Napoli, I will start to have contact with other clubs.”

There have been reports that Napoli have rejected offers from Chelsea, and the player seems to be clearly frustrated with the situation, and also accused the club of wanting to make money.

“The game In England could be suitable for me but I like Italy, I do not press for a transfer but I hope to sign a renewal with Napoli or we proceed to other solutions. Napoli also wants to make money.”
