Scouting For Abramovich: 3 Possible Mourinho Replacements That Chelsea Should Consider

Wenger Mourinho

Jose Mourinho, the 52-year old Portuguese, who guided the team to Premier League title just 7 months back has been released from his duties through mutual consent by the Stamford Bridge outfit. With the team languishing in 16th place with just 15 points out of the 16 games just one point beyond relegation zone, lies the frenetic situation for the club officials to find a suitable replacement for not only filling the void left by one of the best current generation managers present but also to improve the table position and if possible make the European dream continue.

Below are the 3 candidates who should be considered for the position:

  1. Guus Hiddink

The former Oranje manager is presently out of work. A very good friend of Abramovich and is also popular amongst the Chelsea faithfuls after his stint there as an interim manager where he lost just once in the entire season to Tottenham Hotspur. Was requested by Roman along with Ballack, Lampard and Terry to continue being the manager of the club on permanent basis but rejected the offer stating that he always intended to remain with the Russian National team.

An exceptionally clever man-manager and tactician with a supreme record and well used to being dropped in difficult situations where good teams are going through a bad time. He did it at Chelsea in 2008-09, after all, having won the FA Cup that season and brought them to within a last-minute Andres Iniesta goal of beating Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona in the Champions League semifinal.

Negatives:  Hasn’t actually done anything since Chelsea, having failed to get Turkey to the 2014 World Cup, and was sacked by the Netherlands halfway through a disastrous Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
