Andre Schurrle is good, but not needed at Chelsea.

Reports are suggesting that Chelsea are prepared to allow Marko Marin to go on loan to Bayer Leverkusen as a ‘sweetener’ in order to strike a deal for Andre Schurrle.

The young Germany international is one of the games most highly rated front-men after another impressive campaign for the Bundesliga outfit.

However, if the speculation is to be believed, it’s the wrong move that the Blues could be making. While Schurrle has the potential to reach the top, he is one player that the west London outfit don’t need to be moving for.

It’s been well publicised that the Blues are closing in on the signature of Demba Ba from Newcastle United, while the form of Romelu Lukaku at West Bromwich Albion has continuously impressed all those who have been watching the Baggies this season. Regardless of the form of Fernando Torres, Schurrle isn’t the striker the club need.

Of course, if Chelsea again loan out the powerful Belgian or even opt to sell Torres, you can understand the need to strengthen the front-line. Yet, even then the Germany star isn’t the man to play the lone striker. Schurrle would be better suited sitting behind the front-man, much like Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Victor Moses, only adding to the selection headache currently on offer to manager Rafael Benitez.
