Transfer Update….

Its been another week of speculation and rumours in the press this week, adding a few names to the bubbling pot of targets for the summer, which has now breached fifty.

Firstly, Hulk has insisted that nothing has been agreed regarding a move to Chelsea, stating that his agent deals with such things, and he is focusing purely on the Brazilian Olympic team, which he is one of the three registered over the age of 23.

I expect the move to drag on until after the Olympics if it was to go ahead, which would tie in to the start of the season, which is why I think Di Matteo will leave that iron, and instead, tie up the signing of Victor Moses for around £10m, possibly with Josh McEachran going the other way, on a season long loan deal.

I think this is a positive move for the club, as although there is no doubting Hulk’s ability, the £40m asking price is way out of negotiation, and Moses would be a snip, as he already comes with Premier League experience and proof he can shine at this level.

One deal that has done out of the blue is for Oscar. Rumours yesterday that we have had a £25m bid accepted for the 20 year old wonderkid from Brazil. Long term, great news, as it looks like this spells the end for Michael Essien, and Frank Lampard surely only has a few years left.

Many will grumble that McEachran and Piazon should be given a chance, and rightly so, but if Oscar reaches his potential, then it is a fabulous signing, especially with the likes of Ramires and Luiz to help him along the transition into English football. Im hoping that if this deal is indeed true, then Josh and Lucas get the playing time they deserve on loan.

Youth is definitely the key this summer for The Blues, one target that seems to have come and gone is German forward Andre Schurrle, after Leverkusen rejected a £16m bid for us late last week. With 7 goals in 16 games for Germany, the 21 year old would be a great addition, but it seems increasingly likely that he will be staying. However, with news that Daniel Sturridge is wanted by both Tottenham and Liverpool, I would expect Schurrle’s name to be back on the agenda should that deal progress.

Staying with the youngsters, defender Patrick Van Aanholt will be having another loan spell at Vitesse, as he hopes to impress Chelsea boss, and add to his nine appearances from last season, where he impressed.

Thibault Courtois will also be back on loan at a former club, Athletico Madrid, where he spent last season, as he continues to rack up appearances in preparation to take over from Petr Cech when the opportunity arises.

July is normally a quiet one in terms of transfers, although it seems Abramovich wants to get the deals in early, and hopefully we will find out more on the Oscar deal as the days go by, as well as the several other rumours that have been circulating.

Let us know what you think of these targets, are they worth signing? Who would you have instead?
