Transfer Rumours of the Day…

With former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas taking charge of Tottenham today, there are rumours that he is interested in taking Daniel Sturridge along with him as one of his first signings.

There is talk of a £10m bid being lodged, as AVB is apparently going to be given a £70m warchest to work with once Luka Modric has been sold. With us being in the market for Modric, could this work for us and could be negotiate a Sturridge + £ for him to join us? Im sure we will find out in time.

Staying in the midfield, 23 year old Axel Witsel has apparently been given the go-ahead to leave Benfica this summer, and would command around about £20m from any potential buyer. Real Madrid and Manchester United are also interested.

Romelu Lukaku may well be more in Chelsea’s plans next season should Sturridge leave, although there are reports showing that West Ham United are prepared to take the striker on loan for a season, although it is not sure if Chelsea would allow that, as Stoke were told earlier last season that they wouldn’t let him go to another Premier League team.

However, the £17m frontman has been unhappy at his lack of chances last season, so if he does not receive reassurances on his position in the team next year, this move might well happen.

After releasing Jose Bosingwa a few days ago, the internet has been awash with rumours of replacement right-backs, so take this one with a pinch of salt. 30 year old Maicon is reportedly close to agreeing a £6m move to Stamford Bridge, as they have been priced out of a move for other targets.

The Inter full-back is still at the peak of his game, and could add a lot to the defensive back line, as well leaving Ivanovic to occupy a centre-back position, where he prefers to play, and offer great competition to Cahill and Terry, in what could be a long season for The Blues.

With his being nearer the end of his career also, it gives Chelsea a chance to bring a young right-back through the ranks, such as Sam Hutchinson, rather than throw £20m at one, and of course, with Maicon showing any youngster the ropes, you have one of the best teachers around.

Staying with youth, and Southampton’s 16 year old prodigy Luke Shaw, has been linked with a £4m move to the Bridge. Despite not playing a game in the league yet, St.Marys has high hopes for the youngster, who primarily plays at left-back, but can be used in midfield.

Finally, the Victor Moses bid is back in the news. After having a £4m bid turned down, Chelsea are attempting to get closer to Wigan’s asking price by offering Josh McEachran on loan for a season. The Latics apparently want around £12m for the winger, but with Moses’ agent keen to push forward a move, he may well be available for a bit less.
